Two intensive working days allowed the team members to share their impression on the different readings they undertook and promote a knowledge-based planning of the activities of the office until the end of 2010. Several documents and books were presented:

  1. The right of children to be heard: children’s rights to have their views taken into account and to participate in legal and administrative proceedings, Daniel O’Donnell, UNICEF working paper, 2009,
  2. European Migration Network: Policies on Reception, Return and Integration arrangements for, and numbers of, Unaccompanied Minors – an EU comparative study, 2010
  3. In pursuit of good practice in response to child trafficking: experiences from Latin America, Southeast Europe and Southeast Asia, Mike Dottridge, TDHIF, 2010
  4. The Roma in Europe, Jean-Pierre Liegeois, Council of Europe, 2007

The result of the session also paved the way to the reinforcement of the three years advocacy strategy of the office.

New as well as former members of the team were invited to build on their previous experience and bring fresh inputs into the new strategic work plan for the period 2010-2012 and explore the ways forward.

The operational plan for the second part of the year 2010 was refined to integrate the last developments and build on new opportunities.

The hardest challenge of the regional team was surely to succeed in combining work with leisure, but in a sunny and friendly atmosphere, this challenge was also overcome. [PC]
