European Union TDHIF calls for a better protection of foreign separated children across borders

112__eu__tdhif_calls_for_a_better_protection_of_foreign_separated_children_across_borders_0_small presentation.pdf*Verona – Italy*: The TDHIF representative in Brussels, Salvatore Parata, declared “To ensure cross-border protection of foreign separated children, countries of transit and destination should intensify the collaboration with the country of origin. This collaboration should not limit itself to law enforcement authorities, but include social actors and services across the borders. Law enforcements should seriously consider any allegations on exploitation of foreign separated children. It is also necessary to accompany such law enforcement investigations with social work aiming at the assessing the situation of the child and protect the child from any form of exploitation and abuse."

This statement is an extract of the documents prepared for the conference “Promoting integration of marginalized children and youth through social inclusion: schooling, vocational training and participation” which took place in Italy early December. [VT]
