UK Teachers 'beat and abuse' Muslim children in Koran classes

• ‘The Times’ reports that its own investigation in the town of Rochdale revealed that Muslim children are regularly abused by teachers at some Islamic evening classes. It seems that parents accept corporal punishment – and even outright abuse – of their children either as ‘normal’ or fear the exclusion of the community if they speak up against abusive teachers. Authorities and religious leaders both agree that such abuse cannot be covered up by the defence of cultural sensitivities.
