Project : Regional Office 4 Mar 2009 |
Budapest, Hungary: What will be the role of Terre des hommes in Europe in the next 3 to 5 years? This is the central question that project managers and advocacy officers answered to at the yearly regional coordination meeting. Twenty one participants came from Albania, Kosovo, Moldova and Romania, together with the line managers and resource persons from Tdh HQ in Switzerland a nd the TDHIF.
This meeting was also linked to two initiatives at the broader institutional level: “how to best support a child’s (re)integration” and “what does it mean for Tdh to work in establishment and improvement of services and mechanism for child protection”.
The 4-day discussion was the occasion for the senior national teams to express their views on the draft regional strategy and to enhance a bottom-up approach in the process and the future of Tdh intervention in the region. The results of the discussions will be attached to the strategy to insure the adequation of the future orientations to the perception of field aid workers.
The last session was on the internal Child Protection Policy of Tdh and how managers become familiar with ‘Keeping Children Safe – standards for child protection’. The main aim was to consider the specific responsibilities of managers in keeping children safe and to e*nable managers to take appropriate action when child protection concerns arise*. [VT]
