Romania Training of Consultative Community Councils

Craiova, Romania: Tdh in cooperation with the General Directorate of Child Protection Services organised a training for 23 Consultative Community Council members of the five partner communities. Participants analysed the role of the community and family in the promotion and the protection of children rights and to identify potential actions amid a difficult context and discussed what their own responsibilities were.
They also watched two documentaries about families at risk of abandoning their children- after which they discussed what the duties of the state, the community and of the parents are in this situation. When asked, most participants mentioned the need for health education (personal hygiene and sex education), discussion with vulnerable families about the importance of education and socialisation activities for children.
