Turkey Treating minors as terrorists stirs controversy
29 May 2009 |
‘Eurasianet.org’ reports that 1,572 minors were prosecuted under the Anti-Terror Law and 174 of them were convicted during 2006 and 2007. Most were prosecuted after joining demonstrations and were accused of being members of the PKK. According to an EU official “_They are not being treated as juveniles, and that is against international conventions. They are being treated as terrorists, and they are not even aware of what they have done.”_
