Turkey Turkey introduces harsh punishment for sexual abuse of children

’Today’s Zaman’ reports that Turkey’s Official Gazette announced that the Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse introduced by the Council of Europe is now officially in force in Turkey to protect children against sexual exploitation and abuse.The convention aims to create a national and international collaboration to prevent the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. It also takes vital steps to protect the rights of victims of child molestation and assures that victims will be protected regardless of their ethnic background, language, religion or political views.
