Europe UNHCR warns Czech Presidency on international protection

- ‘New Europe’ reports that UNHCR issued recommendations to the upcoming Czech Presidency of the EU to improve protection of refugees in the European Union and urged that the outcome of negotiations among EU member states should be consistent with international refugee law and human rights law. The same article also covers the story of Belarusian children provided visas to travel to Ireland for the Christmas holidays – an exception on Belarusian travel ban granted by the EU to allow children from the Chernobyl-affected regions to be housed with Irish families for the holidays.
