Comment: The text draw an excellent picture about one of the most serious problems in contemporary Macedonia, the forced begging. The harsh reality of the young people forced to beg in the streets is perfectly illustrated though the experiences of the little Emine. They are roaming around in the streets regardless the weather conditions or dangers that might threaten their lives. According to the article, several factors are contributing to the despite situation, financial hardship of the family, unregistered children and the lack of access to social benefits.
As an option for those little street beggars, the daily centers, maintained by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, are recommended by the article. The text also highlights the overcrowded nature of the daily centers (40 children per day) and the need for more comprehensive solutions for children as being placed in appropriate shelters or residencies to support the long term development of these children. The article argues for the extension of daily centers and establishment of well-equipped shelters for street children. The journalist does not recognize the potential connection between forced-begging and trafficking, stating that neither Emine or other children at the daily center were involved in trafficking. However, the quotation in the title refers to activities which should raise the suspicion of professionals.
