Macedonia Citizen of Prilep kidnapped a girl of 9 for the purpose of rape

Comment: Macedonian media is increasingly reporting on alleged cases of sexual exploitation and abuse of children. The frequency of such reporting demands for prompt answers by the authorities, including child protection structures at the local level, as well as a stronger collaboration between parents and schools aiming at prevention of such cases. Children should be better informed on the various risks and how to protect themselves. The recent Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of children against sexual exploitation and abuse contains a number of important obligations on signatory States on how to address these phenomena and Macedonia should sing to this Convention.
