Comment: The trial against the British David Brown, accused for sexual abuse of minors in Albania, took place in mid-May 2008. Three of the minors, suspected to have suffered abuse from Brown at the center “His Children”, gave their testimonies during the trial through a video-conference telling all the details happened in the center. The minors were placed in a separate room away from trial procedure in order to protect the minors and prevent emotional reactions due to the presence of the offender. During the trial of David Brown, CILPS was involved by providing a psychologist for the assistance of the minors during the interrogation process.

The article of Gazeta Shqiptare provides a short and objective overview of the trial. It highlights the specific procedure to avoid the victims’ presence in the trial room and the use of video conference in order to serve the best interest of the minors during the interrogation. The article uses only sources from the law court and does not disclose any information on the content of the testimonies or on the identity of the witnesses.
