France While Moldova turns towards the EU, its citizens flee the country due to unclear future

Comment: The French daily newspaper 'Le Monde' describes the situation of Moldova today after the nomination of a new government on March 21st. The foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova continues to alternate between the EU and Russia.
The journalist concentrates its analysis of the migration issues affecting deeply the 'poorest country of Europe'. The author indicates that approximately half million of Moldavians are now in the EU, mainly in Italy and Portugal, and quotes the Director of Public Policies Institute mentioning that 30% of the active population is migrating.
Such mass migration is also affecting the situation of children; the 'migration orphans' are representing today 29% of the Moldavian children according to Unicef. The article concludes on the words of young Moldavian citizens saying: “I see my future only in another country of the EU”.
